FloodBrief

FloodBrief is a mobile + web app that turns messy river/lake data into simple, location-specific flood and shoreline risk briefings. It pulls public gauge feeds (USGS/NOAA where available), rainfall forecasts, and local terrain to produce a clear “what changes in the next 6–48 hours” summary for a pinned place: expected water rise, likely low-lying road impacts, and when conditions return to normal. It also lets users create shareable “watch areas” for campsites, marinas, trailheads, and neighborhoods, with thresholds that trigger alerts. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional ingestion/alerts plus AI to generate plain-language briefings and translate technical hydrology terms into practical guidance. It’s realistic because it doesn’t promise perfect predictions; it focuses on communicating uncertainty and giving conservative, decision-ready guidance.
