FloodFence

FloodFence is a mobile + web app that gives hyperlocal, street-by-street flood risk and real-time alerts for the next 0–6 hours. It blends radar nowcasting, river/stream gauge data, terrain elevation, and user-reported water levels to answer practical questions: “Will my route flood?”, “Should I move my car?”, and “Is my basement at risk tonight?” Users set geofenced locations (home, work, parking spot, routes) and receive clear, threshold-based notifications with recommended actions (move vehicle, avoid roads, deploy barriers). A lightweight “community verification” flow lets users submit photos and water depth estimates, which are scored for credibility and used to refine local conditions. The app focuses on decision support rather than generic weather summaries, and it keeps a simple audit trail of alerts and outcomes for insurance documentation.
