FlowTrail

FlowTrail is a web app (with optional browser extension) that records real user navigation paths and turns them into actionable UX navigation fixes. Instead of generic heatmaps, it builds a “path graph” of how people actually move through menus, breadcrumbs, search, and internal links, then flags high-friction nodes: dead ends, loops, excessive backtracking, and pages that trap users before key actions (signup, checkout, support). It also auto-detects mismatches between IA labels and user intent by clustering on-page search queries and click destinations. You get prioritized issues with estimated impact (drop-off, time-to-task, conversion loss) and concrete recommendations like renaming labels, adding cross-links, adjusting menu depth, or improving breadcrumb structure. It’s realistic: it won’t magically redesign your IA, but it will reliably surface where navigation is failing and quantify the cost so teams actually fix it.
