FocusFence

FocusFence is a mobile + desktop app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that reduces energy loss from constant task switching. It detects when you’re bouncing between apps/sites and prompts you to “commit” to a single focus lane for a short, realistic window (10–30 minutes). Instead of generic pomodoros, it uses your actual behavior: it groups your work into a few lanes (e.g., Writing, Meetings, Admin) and shows an “energy cost” estimate for switching lanes too often. It also adds a simple pre-commit ritual: pick the next micro-outcome, block distracting apps/sites, and auto-silence notifications. At the end of each lane, it asks one question: “Did this move the needle?” Over time it builds a personal switching profile and suggests schedule tweaks (e.g., batch Slack twice daily). It’s not magic—just friction in the right places.
