FOIAForge

FOIAForge is a web app (with optional desktop add-on for secure local processing) that helps regulatory agencies manage public-records requests end-to-end: intake, triage, search, redaction, review, and release. It focuses on the ugly operational reality—missed deadlines, inconsistent exemptions, scattered email threads, and redactions that don’t hold up. The AI component suggests likely exemptions, flags sensitive data (PII, trade secrets, law-enforcement sensitive), and drafts response letters, but it never “auto-releases” anything; humans approve every step. The system produces a defensible audit log, tracks statutory timelines, and generates status updates for requesters without staff rewriting the same emails. It also supports proactive disclosure: frequently requested records can be published to a public portal to reduce repeat workload. This is not a magic wand—agencies still need clean source systems and disciplined review—but it can cut cycle time materially.
