FreezeFirst

FreezeFirst is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that helps households reduce food waste by making storage decisions and retrieval dead simple. Instead of trying to catalog your entire pantry, it focuses on the highest-waste zones: fridge leftovers, opened items, and freezer portions. You add items in under 10 seconds using barcode scan, quick templates, or voice (“2 cups chili, frozen”). The app generates a “Use Next” queue based on expiry estimates, open-date rules, and your household’s typical consumption. It also prints or shares freezer labels (QR codes) so you can scan a container and instantly see what it is, when it was frozen, and suggested ways to use it. It’s realistic: it won’t promise perfect expiry accuracy; it aims for “good enough” reminders that actually get followed.
