FreshFallback

FreshFallback is a mobile + web app that fixes the most hated part of grocery delivery: substitutions and out-of-stocks. Users set “fallback rules” per item (brand lock, max price, dietary constraints, size limits, and acceptable alternates). When a store is out, the app auto-approves the best replacement and blocks unacceptable swaps before the shopper checks out. It integrates by generating a shareable substitution sheet and real-time decision link that can be pasted into Instacart/Shipt notes or sent to a personal shopper; for partnered local stores, it can connect directly via a lightweight order API. The app also learns preferences over time (e.g., you always reject certain brands) and creates a household “do-not-substitute” list. It’s not trying to replace delivery platforms; it’s a control layer that reduces refunds, wasted money, and frustration.
