FreshnessGap

FreshnessGap is a web app that quantifies and visualizes the “freshness” of your analytics and operational metrics across the entire pipeline—from event generation to dashboard render. Instead of arguing about whether data is “real-time,” it measures end-to-end latency, jitter, and drop rates per source, region, and destination (warehouse, streaming system, BI tool). It continuously runs synthetic canary events alongside real traffic to detect where delays start (SDK, queue, ETL, warehouse load, semantic layer, dashboard cache). Teams get a single freshness score, SLOs for data timeliness, and alerts when dashboards are too delayed for decisions. This is not a full observability platform; it’s a focused layer that sits between data engineering and business stakeholders to prevent bad calls based on stale numbers. Expect some setup effort: you’ll need to install lightweight collectors and define critical metrics/SLOs.
