FrictionLock

FrictionLock is a mobile app (with an optional browser extension) that helps you follow through by making distractions slightly harder—not by “motivating” you. You set rules like: social apps unlock only after a 10-minute focus session, doomscrolling requires scanning a QR code placed in another room, or late-night app access needs a short check-in plus a 60-second delay. The app tracks “friction events” (how often you tried to bypass) and shows which rules actually reduce usage. It’s realistic: it won’t stop a determined user, but it will stop the autopilot behavior that kills discipline. A lightweight AI coach suggests better friction settings based on your patterns (e.g., time-of-day triggers) and recommends small tweaks rather than grand plans. The goal is fewer decisions, fewer slips, and measurable behavior change.
