FrictionTimer

FrictionTimer is a cross-platform procrastination interrupter that focuses on one thing: stopping “just five minutes” from turning into an hour. Instead of generic site blocking, it adds escalating friction to your most common avoidance loops (doomscrolling, news refresh, shopping tabs, short-video apps). You choose a small set of “delay rules” per app/site: forced 20-second pause, a short intention prompt, or a required micro-task (e.g., type the next action for your real task). It tracks relapse patterns locally and shows a simple weekly report: top triggers, time lost, and which friction rules actually worked. It’s not pretending to cure procrastination; it’s a guardrail that makes distraction slightly annoying and starting slightly easier. Works best when paired with a single daily focus goal and a short list of blocked triggers.
