FuelSplit
FuelSplit is a mobile + web app that compares hybrids using real owner driving data and your actual commute. Instead of relying on EPA-only numbers, it estimates monthly cost by splitting miles into city/highway, temperature, speed, and trip length effects—where hybrids often diverge the most. Users pick 2–5 vehicles, enter their typical routes (or import from phone location history), local fuel prices, electricity rates (for PHEVs), and maintenance assumptions. The app outputs a transparent “cost per mile” range, break-even timeline versus gas-only alternatives, and sensitivity sliders (fuel price spikes, winter penalty, tire choice). It also flags misleading comparisons (e.g., PHEV rated MPG without charging). This is not a magic oracle: it’s a calculator with receipts, showing confidence intervals and what data is missing.
