GearCheck

GearCheck is a mobile + web app that helps parents and childcare providers manage the safety lifecycle of childcare products (car seats, cribs, high chairs, monitors, bottles, etc.). Users scan barcodes or search models to build a gear inventory, then get alerts for recalls, expiration dates (especially car seats), and manufacturer safety notices. It also stores receipts, warranty info, and “in-service” dates for daycare compliance, plus a simple incident log (e.g., strap fray, cracked plastic) with photos. The app is realistic: it won’t magically know every product, so it focuses on high-risk categories first and uses a mix of official recall feeds and user-submitted model data with verification prompts. The goal is fewer missed recalls, fewer unsafe hand-me-downs, and less chaos when you need proof of purchase or a replacement timeline.
