Owners list items with availability, condition photos, and a required deposit; renters search by location/date, book, and pick up via QR handoff. The app includes ID verification, optional damage protection, and a simple inspection checklist to reduce disputes. It focuses on “last-minute” needs (forgot a stove, need a bear canister) and “try-before-you-buy” (test a splitboard size for a weekend). The hard truth: this only works if you build trust and liquidity in a few cities first—otherwise listings are too sparse and users churn.
