GelSleuth
GelSleuth is a mobile + web AI app that helps biologists troubleshoot agarose and SDS-PAGE gel failures using structured symptom capture and photo analysis. Users answer a short checklist (sample type, buffer, voltage, ladder, stain, run time) and upload a gel image; the app returns the most likely root causes (e.g., degraded sample, salt contamination, wrong buffer, overheating, polymerization issues) with ranked confidence and concrete corrective actions. It also generates a “next run” protocol card and a minimal experiment plan to isolate variables in one or two repeats. The app builds a private lab knowledge base over time, learning your reagents, equipment quirks, and recurring failure patterns. Realistically, it won’t replace expert judgment and it won’t fix bad upstream biology, but it can reduce wasted runs and shorten the time to a clean, interpretable gel.
