GemGuard

GemGuard is a mobile + web app that helps engagement-ring buyers avoid overpriced, misrepresented, or swapped stones by creating a simple, evidence-backed “deal sanity check” before purchase. Users upload the grading report (GIA/IGI PDF), listing details, and photos/video from the jeweler. The app flags inconsistencies (report vs listing, suspicious proportions, pricing outliers, missing laser inscription, unclear return/warranty terms) and generates a short checklist of questions to ask in-store. It also stores a tamper-evident purchase dossier (receipt, report, serial/inscription, photos, appraisal) so the buyer has documentation if disputes arise. This is not magic: it won’t authenticate a diamond from photos alone. It reduces the odds of getting burned and makes the buying process less intimidating, especially for first-time buyers spending thousands.
