GlareGuard

GlareGuard is a mobile + desktop companion app that helps people who get headaches, eye strain, or sensory overload from harsh lighting and screens. It guides a 2-minute daily check-in (light sensitivity, headache intensity, sleep, environment) and uses your phone camera + ambient light sensor to estimate brightness, flicker risk (where detectable), and color temperature in your surroundings. On desktop, it can read display settings and suggest concrete adjustments (brightness, night shift, contrast, font smoothing) and timed breaks. The app then generates simple “do this now” presets: dim targets for your room, recommended monitor settings, and reminders when conditions drift. It’s not a medical device and won’t “cure” migraines; it’s a practical tool to reduce triggers and help users learn patterns. Exportable reports help users talk to clinicians or employers about accommodations.
