GrainGuard
GrainGuard is a mobile + web app that helps home cooks and small households track grains and pasta (rice, flour, oats, lentils, spaghetti, etc.) so they stop buying duplicates and throwing out stale food. You scan receipts or barcodes, then log container type and opened date; the app estimates freshness windows (e.g., whole wheat flour vs. white flour) and nudges you to use items before quality drops. It generates simple “use-what-you-have” meal suggestions centered on your pantry, not aspirational recipes. It also supports shared pantries for roommates/partners, with low-friction check-in/check-out and a weekly “what to cook next” list. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional inventory and reminders, plus AI for receipt parsing and meal ideas constrained by your exact stock and dietary preferences.
