GrantTrail
GrantTrail is a web app (with an optional mobile companion) that helps watchdogs and procurement teams track government grants and subsidies end-to-end: announcement, eligibility, award, contract terms, disbursement schedules, amendments, and final outcomes. It pulls data from public portals and PDFs, normalizes recipients (deduping names/affiliates), and creates a timeline that flags common accountability gaps: late reporting, missing deliverables, repeated amendments, cost overruns, and recipients with prior compliance issues. It’s not magic—many jurisdictions publish messy or incomplete data—so the product is designed around “best available evidence,” clear sourcing, and user-submitted corrections with audit trails. The MVP focuses on one country/state and a small set of high-value grant programs where data exists. The goal is to make it easy to answer: who got money, why, when, and what happened next—without needing a data team.
