GrazeGauge

GrazeGauge is a mobile + web app that helps ranchers and land managers track pasture condition and grazing pressure with minimal hassle. Users walk or drive a pasture, snap a few standardized photos, and log quick observations (bare ground, key species, manure density, water points). The app turns this into a simple “risk dashboard” for each paddock: utilization estimate, recovery time suggestion, and alerts when a pasture is trending toward degradation. It also stores before/after photo timelines to support lease discussions, NRCS documentation, and internal decision-making. This is not a magic ecology oracle—results are only as good as consistent inputs—but it replaces scattered notes, memory, and spreadsheets with a repeatable workflow. Offline mode is included because many grasslands have poor service. The goal is fewer bad grazing calls, faster rotation decisions, and clearer evidence when weather turns.
