GreensGauge

GreensGauge is a mobile + web app (AI + traditional) that helps shoppers and home cooks quickly assess fresh produce quality and predict usable shelf life. You scan a fruit or vegetable with your phone camera and answer 2–3 quick prompts (store type, purchase date, storage method). The app returns a simple freshness score, likely spoilage timeline, and the top 2 actions to extend life (e.g., vented container, paper towel, separate from ethylene producers). It also generates a “use-first” list and suggests low-effort recipes based on what will go bad soon. The realistic angle: it won’t be perfectly accurate—lighting, varieties, and hidden bruising limit vision—so the app focuses on conservative guidance and user feedback loops to improve predictions. Monetization is a freemium model with a small subscription for advanced tracking, household sharing, and recipe packs.
