GridBuddy

GridBuddy helps utilities, cities, and large employers run human-friendly demand response and community energy programs without relying on gimmicks. Instead of generic “save energy” nudges, it lets program managers create short, local “energy events” (e.g., 5–7pm peak) with clear goals, simple actions, and transparent rewards. Participants can join as teams (apartment floors, departments, neighborhood groups), see progress in plain language, and get credited automatically via smart meter/utility interval data. The app emphasizes trust: users see exactly what data is used, what they earned, and why. It also includes lightweight communication tools (SMS/email/push) and post-event summaries that show impact in dollars, kWh, and avoided emissions. This is not a consumer-only app; it’s a B2B2C program layer that sits on top of existing utility systems and makes participation feel social, fair, and worth the effort.
