HabitKilowatt
HabitKilowatt is a mobile + web app that helps households cut electricity use through behavior changes that actually stick. Instead of vague tips, it runs short, weekly “micro-challenges” (e.g., thermostat setbacks, laundry timing, standby power sweeps) and ties them to estimated kWh and dollar impact using your utility rate, local weather, and basic home profile. It avoids the common trap of requiring smart-home hardware by focusing on actions most people can do immediately, then optionally connects to utility Green Button data (where available) to validate results. The app uses lightweight AI to personalize which challenges you’re most likely to complete and which will matter most for your home type. You get a simple scorecard, streaks, and “good enough” targets—because perfection is where these apps die. It’s realistic: it won’t magically halve your bill, but it can reliably shave 3–10% for engaged users.
