HarvestPledge

HarvestPledge is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers verify “local” and “seasonal” claims at the point of purchase and plan meals around what’s actually in season nearby. Users scan a receipt or product barcode to see a simple seasonality score for their region, approximate food-miles ranges, and suggested swaps that are currently abundant locally. For farmers markets and small grocers, the app offers a lightweight portal to publish weekly availability lists and optional proof (farm location, harvest window, distributor) that boosts trust. It’s not a feel-good tracker: it focuses on practical decisions—what to buy this week, where to find it, and what to substitute when something is out of season. Monetization is realistic: a freemium consumer app plus paid “Verified Local” profiles for vendors and market organizers.
