HeadwayPing
HeadwayPing is a mobile + web app that tells riders when the next bus/train will actually arrive by focusing on headway reliability rather than published schedules. It ingests real-time vehicle positions (GTFS-Realtime where available), detects bunching/gaps, and shows a simple “next vehicle in X–Y minutes” range with confidence and crowding hints. The app also flags when an agency’s feed is stale or missing and falls back to user-reported sightings (lightweight, one-tap) to keep predictions usable. A commuter mode learns your usual stops and sends alerts only when service is genuinely off-pattern (e.g., 18-minute gap on a 10-minute line). This is not a map-heavy trip planner; it’s a “should I leave now?” reliability tool that works best for frequent routes in cities where riders suffer from inconsistent service.
