HeatCheck is a mobile + web app that standardizes romance “spice,” trope, and trigger information using a mix of community reporting and AI-assisted extraction. Readers can scan an ISBN/barcode or paste an Amazon/Goodreads link to get a clear, spoiler-light card: heat level, on-page explicitness, key tropes, and sensitive-content flags with confidence scores and citations (chapter ranges or quoted blurbs when available). The app prioritizes reliability over hype: every label shows whether it came from verified reader votes, publisher metadata, or AI inference. Authors can claim profiles to submit official tags, while readers can upvote accuracy and report mislabels. Monetization is realistic: freemium for readers, plus a small subscription for authors/publishers to manage metadata, run “comparables,” and export standardized tag packs for retailers/newsletters.
