HeatShift

HeatShift is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for operators of thermal energy storage (TES) systems—hot water tanks, chilled water/ice storage, and district heating/cooling buffers. It connects to BMS/SCADA data, utility tariffs, and weather forecasts to recommend (and optionally automate) charge/discharge schedules that reduce demand charges and shift load to cheaper/cleaner hours. The MVP focuses on one job: turning messy building data into a daily dispatch plan with clear savings attribution. It includes a simple digital twin (state-of-charge, losses, constraints), alarms for underperformance (e.g., stratification issues, valve leakage), and monthly measurement & verification reports that finance teams can trust. This is a combination traditional + AI app: deterministic physics/constraints for safety, with AI for forecasting loads and spotting anomalies. Realistically, integration and data quality will be the hardest part; the app must prove savings fast or it won’t survive procurement.
