HeatShift
HeatShift is a mobile + web app that turns climate change into actionable, hyperlocal heat-risk guidance for everyday decisions. Instead of generic “heat index” forecasts, it blends official weather data with satellite land-surface temperature, tree canopy, and urban heat island signals to estimate block-by-block exposure and safer routes. Users get alerts for dangerous commute windows, outdoor work breaks, hydration reminders, and “cool corridor” navigation to shaded streets, cooling centers, and air-conditioned public spaces. For organizations (schools, delivery fleets, municipalities), a web dashboard summarizes hotspot neighborhoods, vulnerable time windows, and recommended schedule adjustments. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI is used to downscale and calibrate heat risk to micro-areas and to personalize recommendations based on activity, age, and acclimatization. The app is realistic but data quality varies by city, so it must clearly communicate uncertainty.
