HechsherAlert is a mobile + web app that tracks kosher certification changes and publishes fast, source-linked alerts when a product’s status changes (certification dropped, plant change, dairy-to-parve shift, Passover status updates, or a new OU/OK/Star-K/Kof-K notice). Users build a watchlist by scanning barcodes or searching brands, then choose notification rules by community standard (e.g., “only accept these agencies,” “avoid certain facilities,” “only chalav Yisrael,” “Pas Yisrael,” “kitniyot preferences for Pesach”). The app doesn’t pretend to be a posek: every alert links to the certifier’s bulletin or an archived screenshot, with timestamps and change history. A lightweight “store mode” lets shoppers quickly confirm the latest status without digging through PDFs or WhatsApp forwards. Monetization is subscriptions for power users and optional retailer dashboards.
