HerdSight

HerdSight is a mobile + web AI app that identifies individual cattle, sheep, or goats using a phone camera and a lightweight on-device model. It’s designed for real farm conditions: mud, low light, partial views, and inconsistent internet. Farmers or ranch hands snap a quick photo/video of the animal’s face/coat pattern/markings; the app returns a probable match from the herd roster, confidence score, and prompts for a second angle if needed. It also logs sightings with GPS/time, links to health/treatment records, and flags “unknown animal” events (escapees, strays, or new purchases). The realistic angle: it won’t replace RFID for perfect accuracy, but it can reduce time wasted scanning tags, chasing animals, or reconciling records—especially in large herds and during handling, vaccination, and transport.
