HerpHabitat is a mobile + web app that helps conservation groups convert scattered herp observations into prioritized habitat actions. Users (volunteers, field techs, and partner land managers) log sightings with privacy controls, basic habitat notes, and photo evidence. The app then produces simple, defensible outputs: hotspot maps, seasonal activity windows, and “management tickets” (e.g., invasive removal needed, culvert check, pond hydroperiod risk) that can be assigned and tracked. It’s not trying to be another social nature feed; it’s a workflow tool for small orgs that currently juggle spreadsheets, email threads, and GIS they can’t staff. Realistically, adoption hinges on trust and data governance, so the app bakes in sensitive-species obfuscation, role-based access, and export formats that agencies already accept.
