HerpNeighbor
HerpNeighbor is a mobile + web app for crowdsourcing snake sightings and turning them into practical, local alerts. Users drop a pin, add a photo, time, habitat notes, and whether the snake was alive/roadkill. The app builds a real-time “risk map” for neighborhoods, trails, farms, and parks, with filters for venomous likelihood, seasonality, and time-of-day patterns. It’s not a medical or definitive ID tool; instead it focuses on actionable guidance: keep distance, leash dogs, avoid certain trail segments at dusk, and when to call local wildlife control. For power users (land managers), it provides a simple dashboard showing hotspots, repeat locations, and exportable reports for signage and maintenance planning. Monetization is realistic: subscriptions for organizations, and optional consumer premium for advanced alerts and offline maps.
