HerpPermit

HerpPermit is a mobile + web app that helps reptile and amphibian keepers, breeders, and small sellers figure out what they can legally own, sell, ship, or import—based on species, location, and intended activity. Users search a species (common/scientific name) and get a plain-English compliance checklist: required permits, restricted status, transport rules, and links to the exact agency forms. It also generates a “paperwork packet” (fillable PDFs, reminders, and a simple audit trail) so users can prove due diligence if questioned. This is not a magic legal shield: laws change, agencies disagree, and edge cases exist. The value is reducing accidental violations and saving hours of confusing research across scattered state/provincial and federal sites. Monetization: subscription for advanced workflows (shipping, breeding, business profiles) and a low-cost “one-off packet” purchase.
