HideTrace is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers and procurement teams verify “ethical leather” and “fur-free” claims with evidence, not vibes. Users scan a product label/QR or search a brand, then see a claim score based on traceability documents (LWG certificates, chain-of-custody, country-of-origin, slaughterhouse links), policy history, and third‑party reports. Brands can upload verifiable documentation and generate consumer-facing QR pages for specific product batches. The app flags common greenwashing patterns (vague “responsibly sourced,” missing batch IDs, recycled-leather ambiguity) and explains what would actually prove the claim. It also offers a “better alternative” finder for similar products made from verified non-animal or recycled materials. This is an AI + traditional app: AI extracts and normalizes documents, but the scoring rules are transparent and auditable. Realistically, it won’t prove perfection—only whether evidence exists and is consistent.
