HoldPulse

HoldPulse is a web app with a lightweight mobile companion for libraries that fixes the most common access-and-lending headache: patrons missing holds because notifications are late, unclear, or buried. It plugs into a library’s ILS via SIP2/NCIP (or vendor APIs where available) and creates a single “hold timeline” for each patron: when the item was trapped, when it hit the shelf, exact pickup deadline, and a countdown with one-tap actions (extend pickup if policy allows, change pickup location, or release hold). Staff get an operational dashboard showing holds aging, shelves at risk of overflow, and patrons likely to miss pickup—so they can intervene early with targeted reminders. This is a traditional app with small AI components (message timing and channel selection) rather than a risky “AI-first” product. The reality: integrations are the hard part, so the MVP focuses on 1–2 ILS systems and one notification channel first.
