HoldShelf

HoldShelf is a web app (with an optional lightweight mobile staff companion) that helps public and academic libraries reduce hold backlogs and patron no-shows by automating pickup windows, reminders, and shelf management. It ingests hold/checkout events from the library ILS via SIP2/NCIP or scheduled exports, then predicts which holds are likely to expire or be abandoned and recommends actions: extend pickup window for high-likelihood patrons, re-route items to alternate branches with higher pickup probability, and batch-notify patrons with clearer pickup instructions. Staff get a simple “today’s shelf” view: what to pull, what to reshelve, and what to re-route, with audit logs for policy compliance. This is not a magic AI librarian—it's a practical operations layer that saves staff time, improves patron satisfaction, and increases item availability without changing the ILS.
