HotspotProof
HotspotProof is a mobile + web app that predicts whether a public Wi‑Fi network will actually work for what you need (video calls, uploads, banking) before you waste time connecting. Users run a 20–30 second “proof test” that measures real throughput, latency, jitter, DNS behavior, and captive-portal friction, then the app publishes an anonymized score tied to location, SSID, time-of-day, and venue type. The app also flags likely “trap” networks (spoofed SSIDs, open networks with suspicious redirects) and provides a one-tap safe-connection checklist. For venues, it offers a lightweight dashboard showing how customers experience their Wi‑Fi, with alerts when performance drops. This is not magic: coverage will be uneven at first and relies on user testing density, but it becomes useful quickly in high-traffic areas (airports, cafes, hotels, campuses).
