HybridReceipts

HybridReceipts is a mobile + web app that compares hybrid and plug-in hybrid models using real-world, user-submitted fuel and charging receipts instead of optimistic dashboards. Users snap photos of gas receipts and charging invoices, and the app auto-extracts gallons/kWh, price, date, and location, then ties it to a specific vehicle trim and odometer reading. The result is a credibility-weighted “real cost per mile” and “electric share” view by model, climate, commute length, and driving style. It also flags common comparison traps (e.g., PHEV owners who rarely charge, winter range penalties, premium fuel requirements). This is not glamorous: growth depends on getting enough contributors and moderating low-quality data. But if the dataset reaches critical mass, it becomes a defensible reference for shoppers who are tired of marketing claims and cherry-picked reviews.
