HybridTruth

HybridTruth is a mobile + web app that compares hybrids using real-world total cost of ownership (TCO), not optimistic EPA numbers or dealer talking points. Users pick two to five models and enter their driving mix (city/highway, annual miles, climate, fuel price, electricity price if PHEV), plus financing and insurance estimates. The app outputs a side-by-side: fuel/energy cost, maintenance expectations, battery warranty risk, depreciation ranges, and a “break-even vs gas” timeline. It also flags common gotchas like premium fuel requirements, small fuel tanks, cold-weather MPG drops, and limited EV range on PHEVs. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional calculators and data pipelines, with AI used to summarize owner-reported issues and translate technical specs into plain-English tradeoffs. It’s realistic, but it won’t magically predict your exact resale value.
