HydroBidder

HydroBidder is a web app (with optional desktop agent) that helps pumped-hydro operators turn plant constraints into day-ahead and real-time bidding/dispatch recommendations. Users enter or import reservoir limits, head/efficiency curves, ramp rates, start/stop costs, outage plans, and environmental flow constraints. The app pulls market prices and ancillary service products, then runs an optimization to propose hourly pump/generate schedules and bid curves, plus a risk view (price uncertainty, water value, and constraint shadow prices). It also produces operator-friendly shift sheets and audit trails for compliance. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional optimization does the core scheduling; AI assists by parsing messy plant docs, auto-building constraint templates, and explaining “why this schedule” in plain language. Brutal truth: it only works if you can integrate cleanly with SCADA/EMS and market data; otherwise it’s just a fancy spreadsheet.
