IceCastor
IceCastor is a mobile + web AI-assisted meteorology app that predicts in-flight icing risk at low altitudes (surface to ~18,000 ft) using a blend of public model data and near-real-time observations. Users pick a route, altitude band, and time window; the app returns an easy “icing likelihood + severity” strip chart, with the underlying drivers (temperature, liquid water content proxy, cloud base/top, precipitation type). It’s built for GA pilots, flight schools, and commercial drone teams who often rely on generic forecasts that don’t translate into actionable go/no-go decisions. The MVP focuses on the U.S. and uses NOAA/NWS datasets with clear disclaimers—this won’t replace certified aviation weather briefings. The value is speed: one screen that answers, “Where and when does icing become a problem on my route?”
