IdleKiller

IdleKiller is a web app (with optional CLI) that finds and safely shuts down idle, non-production cloud resources that quietly rack up bills—dev/test databases, forgotten Kubernetes namespaces, unattached volumes, overprovisioned build runners, and long-running preview environments. It connects read-only first to AWS/Azure/GCP, scores resources by “safe-to-stop” confidence, then applies guardrailed automation: schedules, TTL tags, approval workflows, and automatic wake-up on demand. The app focuses on the unglamorous 20–40% of waste that teams never get around to cleaning because it’s tedious and risky. It produces clear before/after savings reports tied to teams and repos, so engineering leaders can enforce policies without endless nagging. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional detection/automation plus AI-assisted classification of resource purpose from tags, names, IaC, and deployment metadata.
