IndexTuner
IndexTuner is a web app (with optional CLI) that connects to Postgres databases and continuously identifies the small set of queries causing most latency and cost. It proposes index changes, query rewrites, and configuration tweaks, but only after running lightweight what-if analysis and guardrails to avoid common foot-guns (duplicate indexes, write amplification, bloated indexes, and low-selectivity traps). The product focuses on practicality: clear ROI estimates, rollback plans, and change tickets you can hand to your team. It’s not a full observability suite; it’s a targeted “performance change assistant” for teams who already have metrics but don’t have time to translate them into safe actions. It supports staging validation by replaying sampled query patterns and comparing estimated plans before producing a one-click migration script. Expect best results on Postgres 12+ and managed services like RDS/Aurora.
