InvertID

InvertID is a mobile + web AI-assisted field guide for identifying marine invertebrates (nudibranchs, sea stars, anemones, crabs, mollusks) from a single photo, with confidence scoring and region filtering. It’s built for real-world conditions: underwater color shift, blur, partial views, and lookalike species. Users can log sightings with GPS, depth, temperature, and habitat, then export observations to iNaturalist/CSV for research or dive logs. The app includes a “similar species” comparison view and a short checklist of distinguishing traits so users don’t blindly trust the model. A lightweight community verification layer lets experts confirm or correct IDs, improving the dataset over time. Monetization is a freemium subscription: free basic IDs and logs; paid for offline packs by region, advanced filters, and unlimited exports. Realistically, it won’t beat expert taxonomists, but it can be good enough to save time and reduce mislabels.
