KeyShareX is a desktop + web app that helps small teams use strong encryption without the usual “one admin holds the keys” failure. It implements threshold key management (e.g., 3-of-5) so critical encryption keys are never stored or usable by a single person or single device. Teams can encrypt files or secrets (API keys, backups, legal docs) and require multiple approvers to reconstruct the key for decryption, with time-limited access and full audit trails. It’s designed for companies that can’t justify an HSM program but still need real controls for ransomware, insider risk, and vendor access. The product focuses on simple workflows: create a vault, define key guardians, set approval policies, and encrypt/decrypt via a lightweight client or CLI. It integrates with existing identity providers so access is tied to real employees, not shared passwords.
