KoanCoach

KoanCoach is a mobile + web app that helps Mahayana/Zen practitioners do koan practice with structure, accountability, and context—without pretending to replace a teacher. It provides curated koan sets (public-domain translations where possible), daily prompts, and a journaling flow designed for short sits. An AI layer can reflect back themes in your entries, flag common pitfalls (e.g., over-intellectualizing), and suggest next practice steps, but it clearly labels itself as guidance, not authority. The app also supports “teacher mode” for real instructors: they can assign koans, review student journals, and leave short feedback asynchronously. Most meditation apps are generic mindfulness; this is narrowly focused on koan work and the realities of modern schedules. Expect a niche product: fewer users, but higher willingness to pay for serious practice support.
