LabelCheck is a mobile AI app that turns a garment’s care label and hangtag into a realistic “risk profile” for sustainability and ethics. Users scan the label (materials, country of origin, factory codes when present) and the app cross-references public datasets (sanctions lists, forced-labor risk regions, textile impact baselines, certification registries) to produce a simple score with plain-language explanations and links. It does not pretend to “verify” brands—most supply chains are opaque—so it focuses on what can be inferred with evidence and flags what’s unknown. It also suggests better alternatives available locally (thrift, certified options, or lower-impact materials) and helps users build a personal “do-not-buy” rule set (e.g., avoid certain fibers or origin regions). Monetization: freemium scans + paid “watchlist alerts” and a browser extension add-on for online shopping.
