LabelLens

LabelLens is a mobile AI app that helps you replace animal-derived or non-vegan ingredients with practical plant-based substitutes based on what’s actually in a product. You scan a barcode or ingredient list, and it flags problematic items (e.g., whey, casein, gelatin, carmine, shellac) and suggests realistic swaps you can buy locally or online, including brand-specific alternatives. It also accounts for constraints like allergies (soy, nuts, gluten), cooking use (baking vs. sauces), and price sensitivity. The app focuses on pantry staples and packaged foods, not restaurant meals. A “Swap Confidence” score explains tradeoffs (taste, texture, performance) so users don’t waste money on substitutes that fail in recipes. Monetization is straightforward: freemium scanning limits, plus a paid tier for unlimited scans, dietary profiles, and shopping lists.
