LabelLens

LabelLens is a mobile app (AI + traditional) that helps consumers quickly understand safety risks in everyday products—food, supplements, cosmetics, and household cleaners—by scanning barcodes or ingredient lists. It highlights common allergens, pregnancy/child safety concerns, medication interactions (for supplements), and regulatory red flags (e.g., restricted preservatives) in plain language. Users can set profiles (child under 3, peanut allergy, eczema, fragrance sensitivity, pregnancy) and get tailored warnings plus safer alternatives. The app also tracks products you’ve scanned so you can re-check them if guidance changes. Reality check: this won’t be perfect—ingredient risk is context-dependent and data is messy—so the app focuses on “high-confidence” warnings and cites sources (FDA, EFSA, EWG where applicable, peer-reviewed summaries). It’s designed to reduce uncertainty at the shelf, not replace medical advice.
