LabSlot is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that centralizes booking and access control for shared university resources: labs, equipment, study rooms, maker spaces, and testing stations. Departments typically run these on spreadsheets, email threads, or outdated calendar systems, causing double-bookings, no-shows, and wasted staff time. LabSlot provides a single scheduling layer with role-based permissions (student, TA, lab manager), required training checks before booking, and automated reminders and waitlists. It also logs actual check-in/out to produce utilization reports that justify budgets and staffing. This is a traditional app with a small AI component: anomaly detection flags suspicious booking patterns (e.g., hoarding slots) and predicts peak demand to suggest staffing and hours. The product is realistic because it targets a narrow, operational pain with clear ROI and a straightforward procurement story for departments.
