LayerLock
LayerLock is a web app + CLI that blocks vulnerable or policy-violating container images at build and deploy time. Instead of yet another dashboard, it focuses on one job: enforceable, auditable gates for images across CI/CD and registries. It continuously scans new CVEs and base-image changes, then re-evaluates existing images so teams don’t ship “yesterday-safe, today-broken” artifacts. Policy is expressed as simple rules (e.g., no critical CVEs, approved base images only, signed images required, no root user, no secrets in layers) and can be rolled out gradually with warn-only mode and exception workflows. It integrates with GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Jenkins and Kubernetes admission controllers, producing clear, developer-friendly remediation steps. Realistically, it wins only if it’s faster to adopt than enterprise suites and reduces false positives enough that engineers don’t bypass it.
